Group Administration

Group Administration is a quick way to send new Inbound Rules, Outbound Rules or Check Times to your remote clients, or to retrieve data from the remote clients. Note that you cannot delete or edit existing Rules - Group Administration is aimed purely at quickly sending new Rules to the remote clients.

When you select Group Admin from the Administration screen, the Administer Group dialog appears:

Administrator - Group Admin

To perform a group Administration:

  1. Click the To button and select those remote clients to whom this Group Administration request will be addressed.
  2. Create Rules/Check Times as neccessary, select the Administration options you require, click Process.

As with single-client Administration, you use the Inbound, Outbound and Times buttons to access and change the clients' Inbound, Outbound Rules and Check Times. Note that in the bottom-right hand corner of these three views, there is a button that allows you to edit the Local Aliases of the remote client.

In the General box, you have several options for actions you can perform on the Adminstered client. You select the operations you wish to perform by ticking option boxes, your options are only actioned when you click the Process button.

The user log files contain all the text information written by MailRules to the daily log files. The daily log files are stored in the Working Folder. You can request remote client log files and view them. Selecting this option prepares the Administrator to request the logfiles from the remote client.

If you have made changes to the remote clients' Inbound or Outbound Rules or the Check Times, selecting this option prepares the Administrator to return the database to the remote client.

You can remove your administration relationship with a client. The client will receive a notification that you are no longer their Administrator. Selecting this option prepares the Administrator to send a message to the remote client that will remove the Administration Link.
