Description |
Text File |
A text file can be used as a datasource where either each line of the text file is an individual field (for example, a list of e-mail addresses in a single column) or where multiple fields in a single line of text are separated by a standard character (such as a comma). |
Access database |
A Microsoft Access database can be used as a datasource. A datasource can read from either Tables or Queries. |
Excel spreadsheet |
A Microsoft Excel spreadsheet can be used as a datasource. A datasource can read from either an entire Worksheet or a Named Range. |
MAP file |
A sophisticated alternative to Text file, the MAP file option is capable of defining & processing a file with an unusual format (for example, a text file generated by a website posting). |
Open Database Connectivity |
ODBC allows you to link to any system that you have an existing ODBC connection to. |
When you have made your selection:
The Select data file dialogue will be displayed. Browse to your file and click Open. Note that if you have selected the wrong file type, the File of Type option will allow you to change. MailRules will open the source file and make its best guess at how the contents are formatted. If the file fits a standard format, it will display the standard datasource Wizard, alternatively it will display the MAP datasource file Wizard.
The Select ODBC datasource dialogue will be displayed. Select the ODBC datasource you require and MailRules will display the standard datasource Wizard to enable you to select a table.
