Microsoft Outlook Users

If you use Microsoft Outlook (not Outlook Express - see Outlook Express Users) in a corporate environment (that is, you connect to a Microsoft Mail or Exchange Server) you are most likely using the MAPI protocol to access your e-mail.

When you run the MailRules Setup Wizard, it will test the available MAPI services. There are different configurations options available for the Microsoft Outlook family of mail clients (What is a Mail Client?).

Depending on the installation of Microsoft Outlook that you are using, you may receive one of the following messages (or similar). Click on the message to read a suggested resolution.

• The MAPI Spooler MAPISP32.EXE is missing. MailRules cannot use MAPI Services without the Mail Spooler.
• Reinstall Outlook 2000 ensuring that 'Collaboration Data Objects' are selected.
• Reinstall Outlook 97, ensuring that 'Microsoft Exchange Server Support' is selected.
• MailRules has detected that the installation of MAPI on your system may not support Long Filenames.
• In order to ensure that MailRules can fully use MAPI services, Microsoft Outlook must be set as the Default Mail Client.
