MailRules generates log files, historical information against rules and create temporary files. These options allow you to control the destruction of these items:

Option |
Description |
Clear History entries older than |
Check this and specify the number of days that you want to keep history entries. History entries are used to generate Rule Reports. |
Daily log file max size |
Daily log files can grow rapidly depending upon your MailRules deployment. This may mean that you will need to adjust this setting over a period of time until you are familiar with what the logfile generates and the sizes of the resulting files. The log files are stored in the Working Folder and take the name of the day of the week with the file extention .LOG This option allows you to limit the maximum size of these files and also to specify by how much you want the file to reduce when it reaches the maximum size (this prevents you from losing the most recent information). |
Delete temporary files older than |
Temporary files generated by MailRules are kept in subfolders from the MailRules Working Folder and can accumulate quickly depending on your level of activity. This setting deletes any temporary file or folder older than the stated number of days. |
Text File Viewer |
The text file viewer is a program that MailRules will use to display log files to you. MailRules defaults to using whichever program your Windows installation associates with Text files (this is usually Windows Notepad), however, you can specify an alternative program. |
Show on Startup |
Checking this will display the current log when MailRules starts up. |
